From the Pantry:
1. Makhana (Fox Nuts- available at Indian Grocery stores) - 1 Cup
2. Milk - 2 and 1/2 cups
3. Chironji - 1 tspn.
4. Ghee - 1 tbsp.
5. Sugar - 1/2 cup or adjust to taste
6. Cardamoms crushed fine -2
7. Saffron strands - 6 to 7
Method:
1. First boil milk in heavy bottom pan with sugar till it thickens. don't let the milk burn and keep stirring till done.
2. Roast Makhana in ghee in heavy skillet till light brown and set aside. Also, separately roast in ghee chironji a bit.
3. To the the thickened milk, add crushed cardamoms, saffron strands.
4. To this add Makhana.
5. Garnish with Chironji.
6. Chill and serve.
