Serves : 2

Grocery list: 
1. Radish greens a of one white radish, washed and finely chopped ( Radish greens are the top green leaves part of white radishes). Here greens from one radish are enough. Cut off the bottom little bit and chop fine.

2. Cilantro leaves
3. Curry leaves


From the pantry: 
1. Turmeric powder a pinch
2. Salt to taste
3. Red chilli powder 1/4 tspn.
4. Cooking oil any 1 tbspn.
5. Jeera 1/4 tspn.
5. Rai 1/4 tspn.
6. Asafoetida a pinch
7. 1 cup water to cook dal
8. 4. Tuvar Dal 1/4 cup

Method:
1. In a heavy pan add a tspn of oil and sauté greens so raw smell goes away. In the crockpot or open pan add washed dal, water, sautéed greens, turmeric powder and a pinch of oil. If open pan, let dal cook till becomes tender to touch and add water if water evaporated before dal is cooked. 
In crockpot let the above cook on high heat for minimum 3 hours.
2. Remove from heat after dal and greens cooked well. Add salt. 
3. In a tadka pan add oil, add Rai, jeera and asafoetida. Let Rai crackle. Immediately add to dal. 
3. Garnish dal with curry leaves and cilantro leaves.




Note: serve hot with plain rice or rotis.
